Black/flashing screen

Hi folks, my computer is being a bit funny.

I came down for work this morning and noticed both my screens were blank. I thought this was a bit odd as my computer is set never to go int sleep mode, or turn my screens off. When a walked over to my computer I noticed it was still on, and when I moved the mouse I got no reaction from my screens. I restarted the computer and it flashed up my motherboard logo on my right screen(this is normal) then if came up with my sign in screen on the right hand side(also normal) but then the screens both went blank and no matter what a did nothing came up on either monitor. I have 2x Asus gtx 660 that are slightly factory overclocked, so I removed all the monitor leads and just used one hdmi cable and tested each card in both monitors one at a a time. The same thing happened on both monitors, with both cards. Surly both GPU'S couldn't be failing at the same time could they? Also had a quick look on the Internet and another suggestion was a blown capacitor, any other suggestions to help solve this issue would be greatful

I have also tried the onboard graphics but is comes up saying no signal, however I never removed my GPU'S, would this block my onboard signal? My processor is 4770K

You would have to remove the video cards in order to use onboard video as they usually disable onboard port. Sounds like a driver issue to me. What operating system do you have? You can try booting to safe mode.

Since you have windows 10 its gonna be a little more difficult to do that. If you can access the login screen, then press and hold shift key while clicking on the power button and click on restart.

Ok so I have managed to do what you said by repeatedly turning the screen on and off, when I turn it back on I get a quick flash and was able to navigate between flashes, however navigating the next part could be rather tricky

Can you try a different monitor? Having to turn it off and back on again doesn't sound good. If you can access safe mode options you access system restore to restore the system back to previous day when it was working fine.

You should see something like this.

You can either try the system restore first to see if that works or you can try enabling low resolution video to see if your screen comes back after logging in. Or access safe mode to see if screen works.

Going to try get another monitor, although I have two and it's the same on both. Will also try removing graphics card and using on board. Won't get that till tomorrow, just going to leave it alone now before a throw it out the window am off to a wedding tonight so don't have time. Thanks for all your help so far and a will let you know my progress tomorrow johnb35

Hi john, so a think my monitors are broke. i pulled my gpu's and plugged my computer into my smart tv and all worked well, i then got a third monitor that is the same as the two i already have, again it worked with the on board. i put one graphics card at a time back in and tried both on the monitor and they worked fine, i then put my comp back together and neither of my monitors offered anything other than a flash, then nothing. i plugged the 3rd monitor in and its working fine but the other two still dont give me anthing.

The other 2 monitors don't work when hooking up directly to onboard video connector? Weird that 2 monitors would go out at same time.
