Black screen when I load windows!

I got to the Windows login screen on my computer and put my password in. The screen went black afterwards for at least a minute - which is not at all normal for my computer - with only the cursor visible. Then it finally loaded up my icons, etc. Is something wrong with my computer? I checked my Processes and there's a new unidentified one running that wasn't on the list previously. Please help! :(

Which one is the new process? Have you rebooted again to see if it still does it?

Hi John! I believe you helped me with my other problem previously.
I rebooted and had no problem. As far as which process, I'm embarrassed to say I'm not sure which is the new one. I just know that I had four and now I have five. :(
They are:
atibtmon.exe (I think this is the new one, but I can't say for certain.)
atieclxx.exe
csrss.exe
RtVOsd.exe
winlogin.exe

Well that file belongs to ati/amd. Have you updated any drivers or installed any new hardware? Have you scanned your system with malwarebytes?

Well that file belongs to ati/amd. Have you updated any drivers or installed any new hardware? Have you scanned your system with malwarebytes?

What is ati/amd? Also, the only thing I've installed was the new Malwarebytes. I opened my program yesterday and updated, and it had me install the newest version. I assume that's safe as it was from the program directly. I did run a quick scan with no errors. (I posted that log in my original post.)
Did my HijackThis log show anything out of the ordinary? Is there anything else I can do to be sure I'm safe?

ATI/AMD would be your video card or chipset drivers. Did you do any windows updates that may have updated the video drivers? I don't see anything in your hijackthis log and i'm sorry for not noticing your malwarebytes log in the first post. I have a feeling it was a driver update and your screen might go black for a second or two at bootup after installing the update.

I did not manually update my windows. Usually when booting after an update it will say it's doing so, but I guess that it doesn't always have to say if it's updating/has updated. No need to apologize for missing the log. :) Thank you for your help! I hope that's all it was, or even just a temporary glitch in the system.
To be safe, are there any precautions I can take to keep my computer safe in the future? I've lost a few computers in the past to sneaky, nasty viruses so it's a constant fear of mine.
Also, is there any necessary cleanup I can do with my HijackThis log?

You are already running Avast and malwarebytes so your good on that.

You can do some minor changes which help a little. Rerun hijackthis and place checks next to the following entries.

O2 - BHO: Bing Bar Helper - {d2ce3e00-f94a-4740-988e-03dc2f38c34f} - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\BingBar\BingExt.dll" (file missing)

Then click on fix checked.

Are you running the latest version of Java which is version 6 update 30? If you have any other versions listed in add/remove programs, you would need to uninstall them.

Hi John, I hope you're here. I'm having another problem I'm going to make a new topic about. I believe this to be serious now. My sister opened an email I believe is bad news. Now my computer locks up everytime in about 20 minutes and won't work. I can't even run a virus scan.

The black screen issue + new processes leads me to believe that the AMD drivers are the cause of this issue. If a reboot does not fix it, download and install the latest drivers, or if those are causing problems, an older version which supports your card.

Thank you very much for you response! I haven't had the problem again, thankfully. Unfortunately I did have something a little bit worse.. but I believe it's taken care of now. :) You guys will be seeing me around here again though, I'm sure. xD
