Blackouts

I have MLB.tv because I am out of the Atlanta area (CT.) I also abandoned $60+ a month cable for $25 a month Hulu+ and Netflix. The only issue I have now is when the Braves are playing the Yankees, Mets, or Red Sox (27-30 games a year) or on Saturdays (if they start between 2 and 7) or Sunday night I can't watch because of the blackout rules. They don't have it yet where you can avoid the blackouts through MLB.tv yet.

I have read there are free ways around it by VPN, but it seems like most I've found are pay sites. I've also heard you can get different movies if you are out of the outer on Netflix as well. Does anyone know a free way to do this?

Usually you have to use a pay service VPN to place yourself elsewhere. A lot of people have to do that with NHL TV too.

It's stupid that that has to happen. You're paying for a service already. It honestly is not fair to black out games just because you're in the area.

But how else will MLB collect on the TV deals that are worth billions to them...

Most people use paid services. Hola is option for free through chrome but honestly I would just pay for unblock.us or something similar. I've had lots of poor performance from Hola's free service. And it makes you an exit node so that's potentially a problem for a lot of people.

They would have far less piracy of people mirroring streams of their games because people (like me) would be willing to pay for the service if we could get any and all games that we wanna watch :D

I tried out unblock.us and was pleased. When my trial runs out, I'll probably get it. $5 a month to not miss all the blackouts is totally worth it :) Thanks everyone!

THIS. I'd rather give the $5 to mlb.tv

I was helping a guy out here with a VPN and seen that Cyberghost offers a free VPN. I'm going to try it myself and see how it goes. I already use a payed VPN though, but if I could use free I may ditch my current VPN.
