I have banners and stuff that I don't like having to see when I visit some sites. Is there any way to block a site from loading in Firefox, such as not allowing "http://www.random-site.com"
There are other sites that might have better files, and also plugins to do this...but I do like this mehod because I can pass it between all my machines...
Thanks, I'll try it out, but I was looking for a blocker for particular sites (i.e. I don't want to have certain "bad" banners showing up on my favorite sites).
EDIT: Let me just rephrase that... How can I block a particular URL from loading?
You mean, like adverts and stupid flash animations? I use adblock plus, I guess you could use that or just adblock.
Both are extremely similar; both firefox plugins, both allow you to block content from a part of a site (e.g.www.alienware.co.uk/Flash_Pages/), or block a whole site that is clearly devoted to adverts only (e.g. www.ad.uk.doubleclick.net). And, both are easy to use.
Block some of those ad-only sites, and you'll notice some adverts no longer appearing on your favourite sites. Block enough, and say bye to 99.9% of adverts.
There's some .css code that allows you to block actual sites. That link was all I had bookmarked, but I'm quite sure there one using a similar code out there somewhere...
