so... can anyone explain what HDCP is?

i've heard that video cards need to be HDCP compliant so that blu-ray movies can be shown with full quality, is this right?

i'm gonna get a blu-ray drive when they drop in price... will an 8800gts play blu-ray movies with full quality?

edit: i just read a wikipedia article which said that even if the tv/monitor isnt HDCP compliant, then it wont be able to play these movies either - what a load of crap! all this copy-protection rubbish is going too far.

Practically all new video cards are HDCP compliant, but what you have to watch out for is that your monitor supports HDCP.

From what i've heard, you need an HDCP compatible monitor and video card if you want to play Blu-Ray and HD DVD movies, which is suppose to prevent any type of copying. Basically, it assists in DRM.
