Blue Screen of death in Star Wars Empire at War

my friend had a problem with some game. he found that if you put the display res. to low in the game, and all graphis set to low, it worked fine. try that
 
yeah i tried that sorry.
also. It says that it will shut down to prevent damage to my computer.
What damage does it do? Overheating?
