ok i have a really wierd and annoying issue with my computer. Sometimes..mostly random, i get the blue screen of death that says my pc had an catostrophic error and will be restarte for the computer's safety. I get it like twice a month and its really freaky.. *shudders* anyone know whats wrong? Thnks

Your computer is broken. (With the details you provided, that's about all that can be deducted lol)

Post the error code it gives you.

you know, i have had the same trouble out of my laptop. that along with about 10000 other things that people have posted on here including random shutdowns and stuff like that, mostly when playing games. but honestly i dont know how to fix it. all i know is that sooner or later they somehow "fixed" themselves. i did, however, add 512mb more ram to my comp, as well as add a cooling pad and i blew all the dust out of the fan ducts. other than that i dont know what to tell you??

Yeah what does it say, also report the error, sometimes the link they give you can be usefull, like it will say if its the graphic card or stuff, which my guess it is because its overclocked.

ok got it

Driver_IrQL_not_less_or_equal

*all the, if this is the first time this occured stuff*

Technical Info (something like that) ***STOP: 0X000000D1 (0X00000001, 0X00000002, 0X00000001, OX848F75DC)

is there an actual file name it gives? that usually means a conflicting driver or IRQ share, i had this problem between my PCI devices.

if you can provide a file i can probably show you a fix.

do you remember if you added new hardware before it started or undated any drivers

newest is 512mb DDR400 Kingston Value Ram
Second Newest, x850pro, i think that's when I started getting these..things.

No, no file name, just "remove newely installed components.

Did you uninstall the old drivers before putting in the new video card and install the latest card drivers for the new one

didn't particulary uninstall old drivers but i do have the latest ati drivers.

Just to rule out any video card driver problems:

Select the cleaning option for your type of video card in the program and clean. Restart (it may prompt). Let Windows load its generic video driver, then get the drivers you want for your video card and re-install them. So fresh, so clean.

XP proffesional I got that error everyday after I added a new graphic card.

Yeah, it seems like that for me too, through i got it a bit less in frequency, about 3 times a week but it is getting very annoying. However it never happens when i dont have the webcam/ipod attatched to it.
