Blue screen of death

My girlfriend has a some-what new dell inspiron laptop running vista home premium. The first issue was her wi-fi not working. Dell makes it so difficult to turn wi-fi on and off. It was off. It wasn't until after she contacted dell and got her wi-fi card in her computer replaced, and me re-formatting the computer that I realized all we had to do was hold down the function key and number 3 or whatever to make it go on. After that, she started recieving the blue screen of death. She restarts her computer - after about 20 seconds, same thing and has to restart. Sometimes she won't get the blue screen, but then upon launching IE it will immediately say it stopped working and is searchign for a solution. This happens repeatedly until restarting her computer.

My question - could this be because of the new wi-fi card? Will a re-format do anything? Is it any software? Windows update?

What would you do? (besides going back to xp, or getting new laptop, or re-formatting)

Thank you!

That sounds like vista. I had wi-fi issues with my vista (luckily, everything turned out ok). I'd "upgrade" to XP. I managed to secure myself a copy of it for when I build my new comp in a year, because I will not use vista unless I have to. Like when it came pre-installed on my laptop.

It's too bad that they stopped making XP. If you hurry, you can still secure your self a copy of it like I did. If you can, get yourself 2 or 3 copies just in case...
