Blue Screen of death

Ok so my friend has the blue screen and he called me over to re-install windows. I put in my Vista CD, it said to press any key to launch CD, I saw windows bar going across, then PC restarted and again I got the blue screen of death. I even tried safe mode, no help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Well the HDD might be okay, it could be some form of malware or a virus. The thing about windows is when you re-install it, it likes to put your old files in a folder called Windows old. So if there is any type of virus or malware in those folders then it is messing up the system.

Here is my suggestion, download puppy Linux. Do not install it but you can boot from cd and run the OS without having to install it. So boot it up then go into the HDD and remove as much crap as you can where the virus or malware can be, basically delete everything that doesn't have to do with windows (all personal folders).

Then install windows vista through the boot menu.

To find puppy linux just google puppy linux 5.0 .iso and it is free legally.
