My girlfriends hp laptops antivirus mcafee expired just yesterday and today she got on and nothing works. When you click on anything a box pops up that says its infected and the desktop background turned blue. Because you cant install anything i put it into safe mode and installed malwarebytes. When i boot the computer back up normal and click on malwarebytes it wont run what can i do!!

if you have access to another pc, try downloading avg rescue boot cd
How do i make it work on my usb drive i downloaded from this page the second usb stick link

format, then reload windows and drivers.
To get Malwarebytes running, go into the Progam Files folder for the app, copy the mbam.exe to a temp folder, rename it to anything, say temp.exe, move back into the original folder and try to run.
A procedure Johnb35 usually posts is:
"If for some reason Malwarebytes will not install or run please download and run Rkill.scr, Rkill.exe, or Rkill.com but DO NOT reboot the system and then try installing or running Malwarebytes. If Rkill (which is a black box) appears and then disappears right away or you get a message saying rkill is infected, keep trying to run rkill until it over powers the infection and temporarily kills it. Once a log appears on the screen, you can try running malwarebytes or downloading other programs".
In his posts there are active links that don't transfer by copying.
Try combifix as already mentioned
Run an online scan such as BitDefender

Or you could restore to point before problem. If you are able to do that then download save avast and Antimalware and do a scan with both.
