im trying to get windows xp Media center installed on my pc, now it will run everything fine all the loading the different then(this is all before it even starts formatting the hard drive) it will say at the bottom starting windows and then it will just go blue screen and say windows shut down to not hurt your computer or something, ive changed some stuff around and restarted it still nothing.

in the bios it reconizes the hdd as third master, but i dont see where its getting this the hdd is hooked up to SATA1 spot and right now i just have 1 dvd drive hooked up, it reconizes the hdd but when it goes to starting windows in just goes blue screen, do i need something special for SATA hdds?

anyone?

Reset CMOS by the jumper or remove the battery and see if it redects your Hd ok.

The stop errors you are getting could be memory (likely) or one of your pieces of hardware.

I just went thru the same problem with stop errors on the install and it was 2 things, first it was a bad stick of ram and after I about went nuts I figured out it didnt like my cd rom. I switched out the cdrom and it went without a hitch after that.

Yeah you do. Your motherboard should have come with a CD for SATA drivers that you install. What motherboard do you have?
