STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):

or its log or alternate.

Since this is my technical support group, lolz, I guess I'll ask you. I've come across this like 3 years ago but I'm not sure if its the same thing. The other screen turned out to be faulty ram. Is this the same thing?

Its in a Dell Laptop that my brother in-law just purchased from a friend for $150.00. I'm guessing he had the same problem, so he went out and bought a new one. He of course didn't tell us of this blue screen so where hoping its nothing to expensive. Whats the problem? Any help or suggestions is always welcomed and appriciated. Thanks,
MrNah.

After doing a quick google it seems that this error is caused by the OS install (no doubt seeing it directs straight to the registry). It seems that a re-format and install should do the trick. However, if that isn't fitting for you it seems that THIS guy might have an answer. Something to the extent of replacing a file. Most likely a re-format would be the best bet.

See if you can boot into safe mode, get all your necessary data off and re-install.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to do a clean install of a used computer anyway. It will solve many potential problems that may crop up in the future.
