hi,
can someone tell me how to connect 2 laptops together via lan cable for cs, and file sharing. u dont just stick the cable in do u? u have to set up a network, right?

If you have a cat 5 crossover cable, plug the cable into the two Ethernet ports of the two laptops.

If you are using a hub, use two cat 5 patch cables, one into one computer and then into a port on the hub hub, and another into the other laptop, and another port on the hub.

I'm guessing that buy cs you mean counter strike? If yes, it should just work without changing any settings. You will be able to host a LAN game on one, and connect to it on the other.

And for filesharing, run the 'setup a home or small office network' task, in 'My Network Places', found in My Computer in XP Pro.
