Bookmark Toolbar won't work

Hello
I am trying to make space on my desktop and thought I would put all Web page bookmarks on the tool bar. I use to know how to do this.
I tried different Firefox themes all had Bookmark Toolbars but I cant drag anything to them anything I have to do?

Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks

From this dialog you can drag and drop bookmarks to where you want them.

I just did that and it does put the bookmark in bookmarks toolbar folder but they don't show up on the actual toolbar.
 
It's visable but when a url is dragged to any place on it it just has the X and won't stay on the tool bar even though it's totally empty.
