"boosting" wireless signal? anyway? or more range?

Is there any way to boost your wireless sigal so its a stronger strength, and and way to get more range on it\?

what if youcant do any of that... I want to do it to help me connet better at a school network, i ussaly get 0 out of 6 bars for connection and it loads less hten half the speed of my old 56k. It only works well is some parts of my shool, yet other kids seem to be able to connect alot better then me, and i just got a brand new better wireless card(did help some, i can find what kids all the "good router"(no content blocking lol) but its still a very slow connection.

at school? is it like a dorm? or just around your school in general?

cause my school, it had certain hotspots, so you had to be certain places to get a good connection.
