Boot from XP cd error, and RAID configuration problems

I just finished building a new desktop computer, and got it up and running without any problems. Installed Windows XP, and it worked fine.
I have 2 750gb harddisks, and were going to set them up in a RAID1 configuration.
I restarted the computer, pressed <ctrl> <I>, and got into the BIOS configuration of Intel Matrix Storage Manager option ROM, and created a RAID1 volume. I acknowledged that all data on harddrives would be lost, and planned on installing xp, drivers etc over again.
I exited IMSMoROM, and the system started booting up from the windows xp disk. After going through all drivers, I get an error message when windows setup should have started:

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drivers or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)"

I can get into the regular BIOS menu, and IMSMoROM Bios again, and I have tried deleting the raid volume, using Raid0, but I always get the same error when booting up again.
When starting the computer without boot disk, it stops with a "-" blinking on top of a black screen just when windows is supposed to start.

Is there a way to format the harddrives without being able to use an operating system?
Any suggestions on how to configure a RAID1 setup?

It is a MSI MS-7512 Mainboard, 2x Samsung HD753LJ harddrives.

Is there anyone who have some ideas on how to get my computer up and running again?

Yes, you can use a livecd, a preinstallation environment or the OS install disk (which is a preinstallation environment of sorts) to format them.

This may be a silly question, but have you reinstalled windows since creating the array?

Yes, I am using the same windows xp cd which work well when I first got the computer set up.
But now I just get the error message after the cd runs through the initial setupchecks. I do not get to the part were I can format my drives.

What is a "livecd"?

Your raid 1 setup requires you to put the raid driver on a floppy in order to install it at the f6 prompt at the beginning of windows installation.
