Boot.ini File

I edit my Boot.ini file it shows "default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)Windows. Why partition 2 ? this should be 1. When I refurbished the HDD I insured only one (1) partition & then installed XP home. This "2" has got me confused.

If this drive came out of a commercially-built system, then there may be a hidden recovery partition.

Or perhaps the Windows installation created such, I have not worked with WIn 7 and don't know if they do that.

Or, it could be that the boot partition is partition (1) and therefore the Windows partition is partition (2).

Yes, this could be true. In the disk management, the top portition is "c" NTFS, below that is PQ Service FAT 32.
The PQ Service could be (1) & NTFS could be (2).
