Boot problem and Graphic card trouble.. HELP!!

I have an Alienware alx area 51 I have 1 ATI Radeon HD 4870 x2 with Intel core 2 extreme cpu x9770 @3.20 ghz. I apologize in advance for having no idea what this all means. Anyhow I have been experiencing an odd problem where i will start up the computer and it will either go to bsod or will not respond at all ( no response from monitor ) Sooo after about 10 or so trys it will finally start up and I can use the internet and everything fine. I constantly have to have msi afterburner on with fans at 100% or else my graphics card will go 65 degrees and up ( this problem started recently ) if i try to run a game, the computer will either shut down or i will get bsod or i will get an interesting combination of squares and funny coloured lines on my screen before shutting down. I am too say the least completely clueless and I would love for anybody to give me any insight on my problem. Much thanks - Ryan
 
Open the case, make sure there isn't dirt buildup inside the video card fan. Blow it out if necessary. If not, I would suspect you have a bad video card. What is the make and model of the power supply?
