Boot Problem HELP!

My Compaq hard drive had quit on my so I purchased a new one. After the install I tried to boot from my XP home edition CD. The "press any ke to boot from cd" appears so I hit enter. It loads then about 5 seconds later it shuts the computer off. If there is no cd in my drive then I get a message saying NTLDR file is missing. Its a Presario 6350CA. Can someone help me thanks!

Loose or Faulty IDE/EIDE hard disk drive cable

This issue has been known to be caused by a loose or fault IDE/EIDE cable. If the above recommendation does not resolve your issue and your computer hard disk drive is using an IDE or EIDE interface. Verify the computer hard disk drive cable is firmly connected by disconnected and reconnecting the cable.
If the issue continues it is also a possibility that the computer has a faulty cable, try replacing the hard disk drive cable with another cable and/or a new cable.

I have a service guy check out the computer and he says that the montherboard is burnt. Do you know where I can get a replacement?

Do you know how to build a computer? If so, consider building a new system. Buying a mobo for your Compaq is a waste of money - if you can find a mobo. The members of this forum are experts at building budget PC's. Give us a budget, and we can make some parts recommendations. :)
