boot problem

when i start my computer up nothing appears on the screen and the computer makes 4 short beeps. what is the problem?

Sounds like a BIOS beep code

4 short beeps on a AMI BIOS M/B means a failure of the system timer

Try replacing the 1st stick of RAM(DDR#1 or similar) and replacing it with the one from the last row (DDR#4 or similar)
