Boot up problem

I'm having a few issue with XP when I start up my computer. After switching it on, my wallpaper shows up - but no desktop icons are visible. Then after about a minute they all show up and the computer carries on as normal.

It's only recently started happening, but it's quite annoying. What could be the reason for this and how can I fix it?

go through your msconfig start up and see if anything goofy is in there that you dont recognize or you dont need... if you dont need it uncheck it. see if that helps

Quite a lot was ticked, quicktime and other media software for example. I've left the things which I think may be important or am unsure about....and it's still doing it. Perhaps if I list them you guys could tell me what is not needed upon start up.

NvCpl, Apoint, ICO, VCUServe, SPMgr, ISBMgr, Switcher, VAIOUpdt, McciTrayApp, BTHelpNotifier,ccApp, osCheck, ctfmon, NMBgMonitor,

What is ccApp? Because sometimes when I go to turn my computer off, a box appears saying ccApp is closing down (or something like that). Then when I click End Now, nothing happens and the only way to switch the computer off is by holding down the power button.

ccapp is for norton antivirus...

go to system properties (right click my computer... properties) go to advanced...click settings under profiles tell me how big your profile is.

maybe you could try cleaning out your prefetch folder as well.

or run a malware bytes or spybot to see if its a spyware issue.
