Boot up problem

I recently upgraded my computer- new motherboard, a ECS PT800CE-A, and a new Vidio card, an nvidia GeoForce2MX-400. I am using Windows 2000. I have a problem when I boot up. On the 1st attempt my monitor has some vertical lines and when Win2000 boots up the images on the montor goes goofy and when I click on an icon the screen goes black then the desktop comes back on. If I then restart the computer everything works fine. I think my problem has something to do with the vidio driver booting. The instructions for installing say to go into the bios and "assign IRQ to VGA" but I am unable to find that setting in my bios. The instructions say if that option is not available to contact the motherboard mfg and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do that. Can anyone be of help? The bios is Award.

Look for something about "Default Video Device" [AGP/PCI]

ECS is a pain in the arse to get direct support from: they make cheap boards and dont directly support them.

Have you tried installing video drivers?
