boot up problem

playing a game and it froze so i restarted ... gave me a message bout a software or hardware change, and when u try load up in safe mod ...or ne thing, it shows the XP logo with the loading bar and then goes back to the start and restarts on its own again... any ideas why ?

applied any major software cracks lately or applied any new updates? I have heard that some dodgey ones make this loop and the only fix is to re-format..
