When i Turn my computer on it takes like 1:45 Minutes - 2 minutes to get to windows log in. i think that is a long ass time. my computer is a pt 3 450 mhz i am going to build a new computer. with 512 mb ram and i have like 20 - 30 programs on my computer like aim spybot whatever and i went to msconfig in run and edited my boot up and made it so it didn't boot up any programs that slowed the boot up like aim or itunes. anyways i did that and i deleted all my unwanted programs files i dont need whatever and stopped and disabled some unnesseccary services that take up more memory in the background while your computer is running. i have this program which is called bootvis which is supposed to make your boot up much faster by doing idk but making it faster. i've been doing that a couple of days a week and yet nothing and my shutdown is effin fast like 7 seconds or 5 seconds. idk why. please help ieeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

well, a p3 going 450mhz isnt going to boot up all that fast... My friends has an old Duron at 600Mhz and it takes about 3-4 mins to boot. My A64 3200(OCd to 2.55Ghz) boots up in about 20-25 seconds but I do a LOT of registry tweaking and system optimization to get it like that. Usually a ood way to speed up boot times is to defrag the drive your OS is on. Windows default defrag is decent but I use PerfectDisk 7. There are a few other good defrag progs too. You should look into getting one. Also make sure you have no CDs in ur CD-ROM drive, I have found that if there is a CD in the drive, windows has to initialize the driver for the CD Drive first and that can add u to 50 seconds to boot. This happens on my comp if I have a CD in.
