I'm having some trouble installing XP professional on my new Mac through bootcamp.
I've tried the installation twice so far, following the directions exactly, but both times after it finishes installing windows and restarts, the computer stops and states that there is a disc error.
It displays,
"Disc error
Press any key to restart
_"
the only way it will actually respond after displaying this is if I hit the power button-nothing else seems to affect it.
It does this regardless of what is or is not in the DVD drive. I can boot to OSX just fine, but holding down the alt/option key and selecting Windows results in the same message.
it doesn't go through the XP startup screens either-just white text on the black background.
I'm trying to install XP Professional SP2 homebuilder's edition (got it from a forum member) on a new macbook pro (15" i7 running OS 10.6.4). I'm trying to partition 120GB (NTFS) for XP, on the C drive.
