Ive been reading about partition drives and I am not sure thats something I want to do.

I plan on building a new tower in the next week or so and was wondering

I plan on getting a new HD for the new build and running Vista on it.

Planning on putting the old HD as a slave drive in.

Can I boot from the old HD with Windows xp?Is there a way like in safe mode or something to tell the computer which drive to boot from?Changing boot order??

I am assuming if I did this I would have to format and re--install Windows xp on the old drive in order to get it to boot?

I will be sure to back up everything on it before I do.

install the new drive, boot with the vista dvd and install vista on the new drive.

at the end you sould be able to pick your os on a new menu that will appear.
