booting partitions?

A long time ago I setup 3 partitions on my hard drive so when i boot computer i get 3 options the thing is it automatically selects the first option if i do not select anything. I would like to know how to switch it around so that it automatically selects the third option as this is the one I use the most its annoying have to wait when computer is booting up to select option. Any ideas folks?
 
Not sure really I dont think so I think when I formated hard drive I was given option to create partitions which i did with the windowsxp cd. Do I need something like that I dont want to have to pay for anything!
 
I am not sure I understand. Are you booting into an OS or trying to set up different partitions?
 
i am not trying to set up partions i already have 3 partitions on my hard drive it gives me choice of which one to boot for a few seconds if i leave it it selects the first option, i want it to automatically select the third
 
okay well when you formatted these partitions did you use the /s switch to make them bootable? Typically when you set up a partition by default it is not bootable so you should not have that option.

Also, if you are running windows and have overinstalled a new copy it may have multiple choices flagged in the boot.ini file
 
If the partition is not set as active then it won't boot, you can only have one patition set as actie otherwise it causes extreme conflicts. if all the partitions are windows, then you shoudl be able to change the both the default OS and the the timeout through 'ControlPanel>System>Advanced>StartupAndRecovery'
