Booting XP faster

I read in one of the forums about speeding up the xp boot. It talked about removing the pictures and anything else not need from the boot sequence, to make the pc boot faster. I have been searching for that for days now and I cant find it. Does anyone remeber that post, or know how I speed up the booting of my pc. I tried to remove the screen that asks to choose a user, but then I just get a prompt to enter my password. So that didn't help at all.
Thanks for your help

i actually just tried that right now. i can't find the config.sys, msdos.sys, and autoexec.bat files. is this for older windows or renamed to another file?

Thanks for your help.

I too cannot find the msdos.sys file. Where is it normaly located?

Also, is there a way to stop xp from going to the user acount screen? Ive tried it several ways but it seems that it is either the user acount screen or one that askes for a password.

Msdos.sys is for dos based operating systems only, duh :P. (AKA, not xp).

System.ini is the only file I found on xp, all others are most likely outdated, seeing as the article was written in 2001! (Whats odd is vista has some of them though...).
