I've been having some pretty weird problems when booting Windows recently....the computer will run through the BIOS startup just fine, then go to the black Win XP load screen just fine, and XP loads in the normal amount of time. However, after it loads, the screen goes black, and just hangs there for about five minutes..then the blue screen comes up with the usernames, etc. I click on mine, type in my pass, and it says "loading your settings" or whatever, plays the music, then switches to my wallpaper. It does nothing after that...just a blank wallpaper..no taskbar, system tray, desktop icons, nothing. I am able to acess Opera by pressing CTRL + ALT+ DELETE and pressing "New Task", and press okay (it has the location of the opera.exe file already, because I've done it before). The first time I did this, Opera loaded, then everything else loaded as well (task bar, desktop icons, and everything else that is supposed to start on startup), and I got one of those messages from Windows "Your computer has recovered from a serious problem". However, nothing happens now except Opera starts. This problem is very odd, especially since I haven't made any changes to anything..I haven't recently installed anything, etc.
Just about when I finished typing this, about 7-10 minutes after I opened Opera via the task manager, the taskbar pops up and all the programs that are supposed to open when i start my comp start. This time I did not get a "Your computer has recovered from a serious problem" message....
So, does anyone know why my computer is suddenly doing this? Is it possibly a virus? I don't think it is...
