Both DVD drives not burning

I upgraded to windows 7 a few months ago, after having XP for years with practically no problems, and have only recently needed to burn onto blank DVDs and no matter whether I'm using DVD-R or DVD-RW, neither work. I've tried the usual of trying different disks from the same pack along with others out of different packs and no luck. As far as I'm aware my drivers and everything else are up to date. The error that keeps appearing is either that the disk is unreadable or it not being detected at all.

What also adds mystery to this problem is that the drives will burn to CD-R and this is using the same software as I've tried for the DVDs (I have also tried other software and the exact same result of CDs good, DVDs bad). Also I can read all disks perfectly too

My m8 had this problem when he upgraded to windows 7 he solved his particular issue with the dvd burner as follows
Click on Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click Command Prompt -> Run as administrator.

Paste the following line and hit enter afterwards

bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

This solved the problem of DVD drives not being recognized in Windows 7 for him.

Double check that your Drive is on DMA Mode by going into device manager. You could also uninstall the drive from the device manager and reboot and see if it helps.
