First off, how bad is the AMD Phenom Tripple Core Processor?
I would have went for an intel, but i liked this laptop.
How expensive/hard is it to swap out a processor for a better one?

Also, bestbuy was going to charge me an extra hundred bucks because the laptop was "ready to go".
I told them to get me one that wasn't so i could save some money, and they did, but the guy said they delete stuff that you can only delete from the registry. Do they do anything worth doing myself or is it just another way for them to rip us apart?
thanks for any help

I have a Acer e-Machine with the AMD Processor and it is a good Processor, if you laptop is working then it's good to go. Intel is great but AMD is also a top mfg.of processors.
As for Best Buy trying to get the extra $100 by leting their Geek Squad birds do some magic. They tried this on me and I said the deal is off, then the sales guy said he would discuss it with his boss. And I was not charged the $100.
Other BB employees had warned me to turn it down. When I bought my more powerful ASUS g73hj they again tried pulling this sham, I again told them no deal and they again went off to discuss it with some boss. They then just let me pay for the computer. :)
I like dealing with Best Buy but I don't trust dealing with their Geek Squad birds.

Just go back and tell them you want a price match for the $100, or your returning the laptop. Tell them you were mis-informed by the sales guy. be firm they will quickly refund the $100. I bitched about my aSUS having a 5400rpm HD and not the 7200rpm I was told it had, they quickly asked me what would make me happy. I said knock off $100 from my credit card, they quickly said fine. And I got the $100+$8 in tax refunded to my credit card.
They know damn well the Geek Squad is ripping people off, don't let them get away with it with you. ;)

:good: flanker is right on. This is a typical Best Buy garbage move. When I buy a laptop I tell them straight up front, "I don't want anything else but the laptop." That stops them cold because they are all ready to give me their sell.

That triple core is a good processor. AMD has improved their mobile cpus to the point that certain laptop manufactures that stopped using their earlier offerings are now back onboard with AMD models. I bought my daughter a laptop 4 years ago with an AMD Turion X2 @ 1.6 GHz and it does everything she needs it to do and it is still working fine.

What will you be using your system for?
