Hey guys, I recently bought another 8800gtx for sli, I did notice a performance gain in crysis, but the shuttering in the game is horrible. So I decided to run 3dmark 06, I got half way done when the computer just shuts off, as if someone removed the power cord. My specs include e6600 at 3.6ghz, two 8800 gtx at 600core 980mem, one 500 gib hard drive, swiftech h220 apex watercooling kit, and a 700w power supply. i called evga up and their responce was the power supply is not powerful enough. What do you guys think, do I need a larger power supply, or is it something else.

750watt should do but maybe its defective or the rails are not powerful enough. What brand is it?

I would suggest to you that EVGA know what they are talking about. Lets look at this a bit more. You have 4 x 18A rails. The first one is dedicated solely to the CPU. That leaves 3 rails for the rest of your system. Now it can deliver a total of 680W on the 12V rail. Take off 25% for the dedicated +12V1 rail (for the CPU) and that leaves you with 510W. Divide this by 12V and you get ~42A. A standard system with a single 8800GTX requires between 20 - 30A on the 12V rail, so you can see, with two of them and watercooling etc, you're short.

You need a more powerful PSU and I would recommend wherever possible getting a single 12V rail psu.

Evga know what there taking about m8, for your set up youll need a min of 900w
esp running 2x8800gtx so id get a 1000w to be sure but ensure its agood quality one as otherwise youll have more problems
