Bought another Acer...

First off. Acer. WHY?

Acer has to be one of the worst laptop manufacturers I have ever bought from (probably due to 9 DOA laptops I got, but there you go). So much preinstalled crap, it makes Vista look awesome!

For the specification, you can't really go wrong, but all of their products are made with inferior parts, and the warranty service is the worst ever (unless you know a qualified engineer at a local PC store that can do the job under warranty)!

I hope it works out for you though. But when buying Acer's, remember to do your homework.

Typical uneducated nonsense from a kid..

You don't even know what your talking about and to make those claims, and to say you've had 9 DOA laptops from ACER is a complete B.S. tale and you know it.

Lets get serious and not just type things to sound cool..at 14 years old, I gaurantee you have never made enough money to even buy/own 9 laptops...dead or not.

Acer just like every company-- they have good and bad products but to say they are the worst is simply misleading and not true.

P.S. - Acer are good :D

I have to disagree. I just guess it comes down to what you get, and what service Acer provide in your country of residence. Acer UK are the most unhelpful technical support department that I have ever come across. If you get good service in Australia, then good for you, but sorry, the service I got was CRAP!

9 DOA laptops is correct. 3 different models, 3 laptops from each. All from PC World, but nevertheless, Acer were not interested, and technical support was very unhelpful. With regards to the amount they cost, have you seen my main desktop in my signature?

I take it Acer Canada are also very helpful? The UK team should be burnt at the stake.

As for the main desktop in your sig...I'm not impressed I just see alot of bulk and crap filling your case...8gb of ram and 3 tb of hdd..,wow..

why did you advise against 64-bit vista, say 4gb ram is unuseable in other threads...

64 Bit Vista on a laptop is pointless. Compatibility problems outweigh the small bonuses. You might as well keep 32 Bit and use all of the programs you are accustomed to, rather than going 64 Bit, and having not even Office work correctly. On a desktop, yeah. You can have the hardware to match the software.

4GB of RAM on a laptop is a waste of time. All it's doing is adding like 200g weight. You can't exactly do much graphics editing requiring 4GB or something similar on a laptop with a P8400 @ 2.26Ghz. It's just wasted. Even a laptop with a T9400 @ 2.53Ghz couldn't really use the 4GB RAM, unless you were trying to render some serious 3D graphics, and with laptop cards at the moment (with the exclusion of the Dell XPS m1730 and the Alienware m15x and m17x) you're not going to be able to render any 3D graphics practically.

I have to agree, Acer isn't that great. My dad has an Acer laptop and it's the flimsiest laptop I've ever seen. Parts started to fail randomly after a year or so, and now it's randomly detecting non-existent USB devices...

you are misinformed, ignorant, and just plain wrong. Acer is a great company, with quality products.

@OP: not bad specs for the price

Actaully most laptops I see by HP, Dell, Toshiba and ASUS are starting to use some decent graphic cards in there affordalbe laptops (like as low as a 8700m GT to a 9700m GT and everything in between). And if you have vista 32 bit with over 3 GB of memory then you don't read much online because from what I have read vista 32 bit only recognizes 3.5 GB of memory. Acer are good. We use them in the Navy and they are kinda slow but we have over 800 sailors using them so what do you expect. Good deal.
