I just replaced my fast yet ancient 2007 Acer aspire AST180-UA381 PC Windows 7 home pro, with a brand new Acer Aspire XC-1660-UW92 and immediately upgraded to windows 11 when I turned it all on etc...

I had my couz copy my entire hard drive from my old PC to a solid state drive removeable PNY hard drive.

Is there ANY known ways to open and transfer my photo's and e-mails and such into my new PC so I can utilize my important saved email from my old windows Live Mail? Or simply access them from the F: port where it's plugged in?

I can search the files in the external hard drive but I can't make anything run or open, I did accidentally locate my photos yesterday, but cannot figure out how to do it today...

Thanks for any brilliant help that comes my way!

Regards,

Gary

You would have to export and import emails and contacts from Live mail into a new email client. You most likely have to take ownership of the folder where your files are stored. Programs won't run from a drive copied that's not currently the boot drive in the pc you are using now. All programs would have to be reinstalled. If you saved your photos in your user folder under pictures then look in X:\Users\username\Pictures Where X is the drive where they are stored and the username would be the name you used in the old pc. But as I said, you may have to take ownership of the old user folder before you can get access to it.

This may help you to transfer your email over.

Hoist up your Sails JohnB! Thank you. The files are still on the other pc, he simply copied them, so I can fire up both computers and transfer files that way I guess.

Is there a special cable I must use or do I just create a network through my modem and connect them to each other that way?

Might be easier to use a USB flash drive to transfer. Sometimes networking 2 pcs together can be a pain.

hmm, I don't know how to transfer the e-mail stuff, but I guess it's simple enough to load the pictures onto an external hard drive and transfer them, heck that's how I still have any photos at all prior to the last computer purchase. The livemail stored on my old PC is the real booger. that along with my health crap from My Chart stuff I cannot sign into for my 80 year old moms care. even the forgot my user ID crap won't work so I gotta unplug this new pc and use my old one to access it. It's frustrating.

The web browser has your login information(username and password) stored in its security settings. What web browser do you use in the old pc?

I used chrome mainly. The new pc I downloaded chrome and use it while signed in and there’s tons of passwords in it but not everything.

If you go into the autofill settings for Chrome all your saved logins and passwords will be there.
