Brand new PC + graphics card = screwed. Someone help me.

OK, so I just bought a new Maxdata PC. Opened it up, plugged it in; all worked fine. So I decided to stick my X1600 graphics card in it and play a game. So I installed the software and the card, and now whatever graphics setting I choose to use (onboard or PCI-Express card) whenever it comes to the sign in screen, I click my username and nothing happens. It freezes, and then reboots.

I've tried everything. Admittedly I didn't uninstall the on board graphics drivers, but I eventually got into safe mode and uninstalled them as well as updating the X1600 drivers.

Nothing worked. Same problem. I can rarely even get into Safe mode, because no matter how many times I hit F10, 9 times out of 10 it just ignores it (F8 brings up a boot sequence menu on this machine for some reason).

So eventually, I took the graphics card out, tried to system restore (it failed) and eventually repaired windows. Still the problem persists. This is really, really, really ****ing me off. I've had the PC less than one day.

Now can somebody help me with this problem? And how the hell do I get into safe mode? I just want to boot back in with the on board graphics for now, and sort out the graphics card problem later.

Cheers.

Someone please help me.

Yes but the problem has worsened. And I really need help. I have a night shift in an hour and I was supposed to have used my frustration time sleeping.

I really need help with this.

you should of chose sleep instead. you can always game later. not worth possible losing a job over this :)

Should be a jumper near the battery on the motherboard, there 3 pins and you just move it over for a minute and put it back, if not just take the battery out for a few minutes. Just make sure its unpluged and push the power button a few times to discharge the P/S and touch the power supply or case with your hand to discharge yourslf before touching the motherboard

OK, this is crazy. I tried that, reset the time and date settings etc, and I just get this infinite loop of restarting as soon as it hits the bit where you see the Windows XP logo. I've solved that bit now; and I still get the same freaking problem. The screen is also a hideous yellow colour.

Try to boot into safe mode now and uninstall the video card drivers you installed for the card since its using onboard now

F8 takes me to a totally different menu - a boot sequence menu. God knows why. I'm sending this piece of shit back to where it came from unless I can find just ONE WAY to get into Windows.

Its probably not booting now because you uninstalled the onboard drivers and it has the video card drivers installed. you could try putting the card back in now and see what happens

Right well I've tried just about everything. I can't even do a clean windows install because I'm getting a "the file 'viamraid.sys' could not be found" error message.

I'm sending the crock of sh*t back.
