I was given a Compaq CQ5210F desktop for free and am trying to get it to run an AMD R9 270x graphics card so I can hook it up to my TV and use it in the den for games, movies etc.
I have installed an EVGA 500w PSU which is what the R9 gpu requires.
I also updated to Win 10.
All is running smooth with the PC now after doing all the updates.
I have tried 2 different R9 270x cards, installed the drivers but the drivers are not seeing that the card is installed.
I downloaded the drivers straight from the AMD site 2 or 3 times, removed and reinstalled the gpu and still no luck..
It cannot be found in device manager either.
Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?Could this be a compatability issue since the PC is an 09 model and the graphics cards are 2014 models?
I am not super tech savvy and haven't owned a desktop in years.Seems that this is not as simple as I thought it would be.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
