Bringing my laptop over from Greece

Hi, I wonder if someone would be good enough to talk me through what to do when I bring my laptop back to the UK from Greece next week.

I bought my laptop in Greece and have been using it over there for several years now but I am returning here permanantly and want to keep my familiar laptop. For a week or so I will be staying in a hotel with WIFI facilities. Does that mean that I can simply plug in, log on and automatically use my email and the Internet?

I shall then be living with a friend in their flat where they already have broadband. Does that mean that I will be able to plug into a second phone socket and all is well? Can we both use our computers online at the same time.

Or am I being naive in both cases?

As you can tell I am no 'techie' so an idiot proof 'talk through' would be most appreciated.

Thank you

Well, as long as you have a converter for your laptop... I believe greece and england are both 220 watts.. When I lived in germany and went to england I didnt need a converter but just something so I could plug my pc into the wall... there a bit different..

as for wifi... you just need to change your WEP encryption. If your flat is not encrypted then it will work automatically, if not then you just need to ask the owner what the 10 key wep password is :) Hope you had fun in greece, I never been there but I really would like to go

hope this helps...

Matt
