Broadband Speed

Is there a way to determine the broadband speed (bandwidfth) that your connection provides? So you can buy the right equipment to ensure that you're getting the best out of your connection, based on the service you have gone with?

Cheers, however is there a way to find the overall bandwidth of the network, as opposed to upload and download speed

Bandwidth is the one promised by the provider. Keep in mind that the bandwidth is not constant, it's just has an upper limmit. That limmit is given by the provider. I don't think that limit could be known if that is not reached by sites like speedtest. Yea, people kinda do things behind your back if you're not aware.

The bandwidth of your broadband Internet speed is the speed your router connects to the Internet, but your network speed is governed by the technology in use ie. 100Mbps Ethernet is 100 Megabits per second on your Local Area Network, but devices can only access the Internet at the Uplink speed and download at the downlink speed.
