broke disc drive tray

this is the drive that i ended up going with, will it just be a plug and play or will i need to do anything special for it to work?

Nothing special. Take a SATA cable; plug one end into the motherboard and the other end into the drive. It wouldn't hurt to enter the BIOS to be sure the drive is recognized.

If the hard drive on that model Dimension is already a sata drive that will be plugged into port #1 being the primary master there. You can use any other port available but may want to leave port #2 open if you intend to add a second hard drive for storage at some later date. Simply review post #13 again to see how easy it is and how the plugs go in side by side on the rear of the drive.

i got the drive in and i cannot get the computer to read it. i tried both the original sata cable as well as the cable that came with the drive. any thoughts?

You did plug in the Power connector?

Is it showing up in the bios?

haha yeah the power cable is connected. i can get the disc tray to open but it just wont read anything.

im not familiar with checking the bios. any help with that??
