Broken fan, what do I need?

I just bought a new computer and the CPU fan is broken on one corner and rattles.

I have an AMD X4 Quad Core Phenom 9850 processor, SO, as far as I can research, its an AM2 socket so the replacement fan needs to be for an AM2 socket? Yes/No?

Yes.

AM2/AM2+ and AM3 all have the same CPU heatsink bracket. All the sockets are the same too, but the AM3 socket only has 938 pin holes. Keeps you from putting a AM2/AM2+ processor in a AM3 socket.

But yes a AM2 heatsink will fit a AM2/AM2+ and AM3.
