Hey guys, me and my bro just got ram in the mail and its not working on his computer. He has this mobo
http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket775/p5gdc-d/overview.htm#

he got corsair 512 value select 533 mhtz 240 pin ram chip. it fits in the slot and starts up with the lights and everything, but the monitor dosent turn on, and the led on the monitor keeps blinking orange on and off like their is no signal, instead of it should be green. My best guess would be the mobo or power supply. I know it works because it works on my computer. I dont realy think its the psu as much because its a 500w ultra x-connect and that should be able to supply the power, i have same one with more connected (optical drives, ect.) and it works fine. I tried taking out the dell ddr chips he has in and it still didnt work (he has 1 ultra 512 ddr, 2x128mb kinston that came with old dell.

Please help!!

What's the amperage on the +12V line for the PSU? You might also want to remove the dell ram anyway and only use the 512Mb.

^^ power is a thing to consider, check the amps on your 12v rail on your psu, make sure its at least 350 watts (i run my system stable on 350 watt 17a on 12v rail psu) iv said this in another post, make sure your mouse isnt pluged into your keyboard and keyboard isnt pluged into the mouse ps/2, if this happens the system will do just as you say.

Did you connect the ATX12?
what is that?
Try a different DIMM slot
did that
Reseat the videocard
will try that

This board has the capability to use DDR and DDR2, make sure the correct Ram is in the correct slot.
Try going into the bios and setting the Voltage for the Ram to 2.7 or 2.8 and reboot.
The Ram I use has to be set higher just to run, it's not that uncommon any more to have to raise the ram voltages.
OOPs, just reread you post and You can't get into bios, sorry.
You have a video problem, try a different monitor, if that doesn't work try a different video card.
Has this board ever fired up and is there an operating system on the hdd?
Reseat the cpu and ram and try to boot with nothing connected to the mobo except the cpu, ram and hdd and of corrse the monitor.
