AI am currently running windows xp.I have a problem with my browser.I have limited access to many sites,as far as when I log in I often get error messages,or simply wont accept pass words. When I have been browsing the web,I constantly have to keep shutting the computer down and restarting.Which I have to press f1 for the system to boot up.I did have a problem with avast virus checker, which offered me my yearly update, but with a seventy pound charge, which I was not willing to pay,as they had froze my computer up for a week.Till I could down load cc cleaner which restored things. As to yet I have been unable to get rid of the avast ,to see if that is causing the problems.I had thought of having my computer re formatted.Would that get rid of the problems.Any help would be most appreciated. Gary.

Try different browser and see if problem persists.
Fresh installation of windows on reformatted partition resolves all the software related problems.
