Browser Security Recommendations

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask if you could provide recommendations on browser security software? If you could kindly provide me with reliable websites or guides, that would be very helpful. Thank you for your help.

I forgot to mention, run Malwarebytes along side of your antivirus program. Don't be downloading all the toolbars as that will slow your browsing down and cause issues.

What browser are you using? If you're using a Mozilla variant like; Pale Moon, Cyber Fox or Fire fox you should use NoScript. To lessen the cumbersomeness of NoScript go into the addon options and disable it, but keep the basic protection on. NoScript acts like a gate before your anti-virus. I would also use Adblock Edge and add the malware lists.

I use Bitdefender Free. It's light and cloud based and if the website has malware Bitdefender Free will block you from loading the page.

Another thing you can use is Sandboxie.

Read my blog posts. http://blog.************.net/?p=42

Avast has been removing addons for people. http://www.ghacks.net/2014/11/16/latest-avast-reportedly-deleting-firefox-add-ons/

Newegg runs sales on AV software for $5 occasionally. I recommend picking up Bitdefender or Kaspersky if you get the chance. Avast works, but it's far from great compared to some of the paid stuff.

That's actually untrue, Avast Free works just as good as paid stuff (Kapersky, Norton or others), it just has less contents such as spam filters and other stuff you can find by simply downloading another free program.

Free, I would recommend this:
  • Avast Free
  • Malwarebyte antimalware
  • adblock plus!
  • Safe browsing (the most important part)

You have to keep in mind that even with all this (or paid versions) if you go on the dark side of internet (even if they have cookie...) or if you download illegal files/keygen, you have a high risk of getting infected. At best, these programs will tell you something is wrong (if you haven't noticed that before).

The only security adblock will provide is the malware subscription.

If anyone is serious about security, read my signature. I used to have Untangle listed there, but noobs will have a hard time with that.

Adblock plus is only there for safe clicking on websites.

And in your sig and blog you seem to think sandboxie is the only software doing sandboxing. Well it isn't, Avast is doing too, in fact more and more A-V are doing so now.

And yes I'm serious about security, in fact I use to remove malware with John here, but you'll find that safe browsing is by far the best a-v, a-m you will find.
