Browser Trouble?

I can connect to wireless networks with my laptop (tried it with 3 different ones). When I'm connected, I can use google earth to load maps, and I can use Outlook to receive and send email, but when I open firefox or internet explorer I can't load any web pages...
help?

and by the way... I'm running ubuntu live to post this... so I know it must be a problem with windows. And I also tried reinstalling the wireless driver - no success.

Is everything set to automatic in your network settings? Have you tried to repair, though I'd guess it would each time you connect... Typically a problem like what you're having seems to be DNS related. It's typically on the ISP's side, but if you can get online using Ubuntu, perhaps it's just something setup incorrectly on your machine.

Well I know it's not ISP related because I've tried it at home at a random hotspot, and at a university without the browsers working... I'll check and see if everything's set to automatic though. I know it might be set up a little weird because the laptop technically belongs to my school until I graduate...

is there anything else that could be causing the problem if I do have everything set to automatic and it's not an isp problem?
