Browser unstable

I have been using my new Lenovo laptop, using Windows 8.1 and my favoured browser Firefox.

Unlike my previous computer (now sent to the knackers yard) I have been having issues with my browser.

One of my main tasks is using Firefox to upload cricket scorecards for clubs onto the Internet. This has always been fine until suddenly and happening quite a lot the window I have open jumps into another page of firefox completely.

I have a few tabs at the top of my toolbar I need but they dont go to one of them, just into a new page. When I click the red cross top right hand corner that page is removed and I am back to the original one.

It is gettinng a little frustrating especially as I sometimes lose track of where I am at on it.

Is there something about the stability of the Firefox I am using, I beleive the Australia version.

Any advise would be appreciated.
 
Many thanks for pointing me to Pale Moon - so far touch wood I have not in 2 days had any of the issues I had with Firefox.

All I need to know now is how to get my home page (ie when I click on the browser) to move to Google search rather than Lavasoft.
 
Up in the top left corner you will see where it says pale moon with a down arrow to the right of it. Click on the arrow and click on options, then click on options again. That will bring up the options, click on the general tab and change your homepage to what you want. Its a very good browser, I use it.
