bsod after 8800gt install?

no, no drivers yet, when i booted into safe mode just now, and tried to install them it said that "it was not recognized as the device" (saying it wasnt the drivers for this video card)

Swap out the card for the original card (or onboard if you used it) and see if it still works.

On the other hand, what's the code from the BSOD?

no, another computer, now im having another problem though, i got it figured out, and i got through the bsod (was driver errors from previous video card)

NOW...i have a 750w power supply (same one that i have on this computer powering my 9800gx2)

and after each boot its saying that the video card has insufficient power

its a pop up message,

it says

POWER INDICATOR

Problem report:
The nvidia system sentinel is reporting that the NVIDIA-powered graphics card is not receiving sufficient power

to protect your hardware blah blah blah reducing grahpic output (downgrading graphics)

Do you have a multi-rail PSU?

If you do try evening out the load on different rails. 750w is more then enough...though whats the model of the actual PSU.

You didnt forget to plug in the PCIe 6 pin power connector to the card?

no, i ran it a dedicated pci-e line (the powersupply has two rails with a 6 and an 8 on the end)

when both of those failed i used the supplied molex to 6 pin adapter, and that gave the same result,

i found a link saying that the cards stock bios checked voltages too early and needed new bios,

would the latest drivers fix this or would i have to flash it? (i know nothing about changing video card bios)

I would not say that is it, when you tried to install the drivers in safe mode it called it a (was not recognized device). In safe mode what is it called in device manager, a (standard VGA device or unknown device)? Got another computer you could try it on?

So, you've tried the PSU from your other computer (which is powering a 9800GX2), which is exactly the same, and you still get the problem?
