BSoD Issues need help?

Hey, I was in the middle of playing Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 and then the game froze and it gave me the BSoD.

the stop error was;

***STOP: 0x0000008E (0x90000004, 0x806EDAD1, 0x96672EEC, 0x00000000)

Any help?

Has this happened more than once? If not, reboot and play again, if it keeps happening note the STOP codes each time. Sometimes BSOD's just happen (software/hardware miscommunication?), so I would go about your business and if it keeps happening I would post back with more details.

Also, check your Windows error logs.

Yes it has happened more than once. Perhaps can I say whenever I start playing games...

EDIT: The error logs reported 14 error shutdowns.

Do you know off-hand if it always the same STOP code on the bluescreen? And are all 14 error shutdowns the same error code/description. If so, can you post what they say?

The beginning of the stop code is always ***STOP: 0x0000008E

but the one's in the brackets are pretty random but similar.

Do you have an nVidia-based Video card? Does the STOP message mention a file in it like nv4_disp.dll (or similar). I'd still like to see the error event log message you got.

I would also make sure you have the latest video drivers installed.

It's not nVidia. It's an integrated intel video card.

It's a Intel X3000 chipset.

under description for the latest error log, it says

Error code 000000ea, parameter1 88425b80, parameter2 8910c508, parameter3 898df8e8, parameter4 00000001.

Any idea what's this about? Is it the chipset's problem and do I need to get a VGA?

I would suggest just buying a new graphics card. i had the same problem a couple weeks ago with my intel integrated graphics card and i spent 3 week all over the internet and on support with intel/dell and i never found a fix. Some people are able to find fixes that work for THEM, it seems, but a lot of the solutions i found didn't work for me and so i just bought a new graphics card, which fixed everything.

I would still check for an updated driver from Intel for the chip on your board.

Also does it only happen when you play games? Does it happen every time you play, no matter what game you play?

It's the latest updated driver on the Intel site.

Usually it only does it on the latests games, the ones that are atleast a year or two older doesn't do it unless the graphics are set to really high.

Maybe that's the problem, I've been speculating that the chipset can't stand the games requirements so it freezes...

^^ Thanks anyways, but I've checked with microsoft's website already and they say it might be a backdoor virus which i DOUBT is the problem.
