BSOD system thread exception not handled

Hello,

I bought a computer about two weeks ago and I have received the BSOD message 4 times since then. I thought about returning it for another but fear I will just get the same problem since it seems to be a pretty common for windows 8. I am having a bit of a problem here. From some reading I keep getting that this is a video driver problem. AMD provides software (as I'm sure you know) that updates the drivers for you. That program says my drivers are up to date. My device manager shows there to be an update. When I first got this problem I updated through device manager. Most recently I have updated from the website itself and device manager still shows there to be an update which I have not gotten. It's also been a hard problem to figure out because it only gives me the BSOD every 3-4 days. I'm not very computer savvy so I've been looking at websites that give more in depth instructions on how to do these things.

I am getting this message

system thread exception not handled atikmdag.sys

Are you using wired or wireless internet? Also what antivirus program are you using?

hopefully these attached properly.

I use a wired internet. Currently no antivirus. I have a disc for 6 months of Webroot free but haven't installed it yet.

It amazes me how you can tell what these things mean. I look it and go 'whaaaa?"

oh ok. I thought since it said notebook it meant it had to be a laptop for that driver to work correctly :)

I used the program and it says I already have the latest version. However, when I pull up device manager and press update through it, it starts downloading software.
