im trying to install windows xp onto a computer that had windows vista on it and when it says setup is loading windows it gets bsod and it says it has something to do with the hard drive???

any ideas?
 
I have no idea why it is blue screening but you can take a longer way around by reformatting the hard drive with Ubuntu then reformatting it again with xp. That is if you were going to do a fresh install and clear vista anyway.
 
something to do with the hard drive, thats odd!
did you run the xp advisor to make sure that everything on your system is compatible with xp. if the system is still locked up unplug it from the ac power then when you turn it back on, you should be able to restart the process.
 
well i was building a computer for this guy and moving another computer to a different case, but he just decided to put win 7 on it so its up and working fine.
