Hey guys first wanted to say thank you to the people on this forum. A couple of months ago in between school and work I build my first computer and it is awesome, can't wait until summer time so I can take advantage of it....between my 830 am class and 40 hours a week....but first of all thank you.
Now something I would like more help with ( I know I'm needy lol.) My fiance's uncle asked about a computer for his business. Right now he's got an older dell running windows xp, pentium 4 at 3.2, 512 ram and like a 120 hard drive. He asked me today what I would recommend, I figured I could keep an eye out for good deals for like a pentium dual core or an i3. Then I remembered I have a phenom x4 955 sitting at home (it came with my graphics card) and thought maybe I could build him something better with that than I could buy off the shelf of our store. Anyway since I got so much help last time and I know you all know what you're doing I figured I'd ask.....what should I do? Do I build? Do I build? Do I keep an eye on the ads? I'd like to stick on building, and wondered what you all thought I should go with? This machine has to run 24/7 and needs to stay cool in a back office where sometimes it gets a little warm (maybe 75-80 or so).
So here's what I'm needing: (Budget of about $400)
Mobo able to go with the phenom 955
4GB of ram, 8 if you think it's necessary
Hard drive with 500 GB should be fine, less would be fine too if it's a better price
A case with great cooling (like I said this thing will be in a warmer area)
A great cooler (it will run 24/7)
Dependability in all my parts, if it costs an extra 30 bucks to have a better and more trusted part go with that one.
P.S. What does everyone think of the DIY Shell shocker on Newegg today?
